Myaravale is a proposal for a mini music festival event of 500-700 people,
gathered in a unique bush location, where people of all different ages and
backgrounds can come together and enjoy nature and music, two of the finer
things in life. The event will never be more than once a year, and is a family
friendly event catering for people from 18 to 60+ , including a wide variety
of musical genres. Myaravale's unique location and cosy atmosphere makes it
ideal for a small-style festival where a good atmosphere permeates, bred by
amazing surrounds and diverse music, washed down with a glass of Milbrook
wine and Mundella fetta. Our event is strictly invites only and only open
to responsible patrons who can respect the bush, other patrons, nearby neighbours
and themselves.
The Myaravale music festival seeks to:
- Promote and benefit a range of local businesses including but not limited
to Milbrook Winery, Keysbrook Landscapes,Serpentine Bottleshop and Mundella
Foods.
- raise funds for the local fire brigade from a car tax on all vehicles
of $20 (intended to decrease the minimal impact on local roads)
- promote and increases awareness of the beauty and uniqueness of the region
of Serpentine-Jarrahdale;
- enhance the social fabric and culture of the region for one weekend of
the year;
- raise thousands of dollars for East Timor in memory of a pioneer of the
community;
- enable the Serpentine-Jarrahdale Parents and Citizens community to raise
substantial funds through catering for the event; and
- introduce new skills into the area, including a free advice clinic on
the one of the Saturday morning of the event with leading lawyers, engineers,
architects, accountants and more, including Gardening Australia's Josh Byrne
who will be on hand to answer all your gardening questions and conduct a
workshop on organic gardening and permaculture.
Some other facts you may like to know
- There will be a large security presence for a comparatively small number
of patrons. We do not expect tresspassers as it is an invitation only event;
anyone stupid enough to will be prosecuted and dealt with by the police.
- A 'green team' of environmentally minded volunteers will co-ordinate recycling
along with other environmental mananagement and education exercises.
- The local fire brigade recently confirmed their involvement at their
monthly meeting and will be volunteering their time to help direct traffic
and be on standby should there be any fire risk
- There is a revegation workshop along the native brook, involving weeding
and plantings on Sunday morning. It remains possible for nearby land owners
interested to have volunteers help on their creekline. Murdoch University
Environmental Science Assocation will conduct the workshop.
- There was no trepsassing last year. The only ‘trespass’ that
occurred last year was a few of the festival organizers visited a neighbour
to try and strike a compromise regarding music on the Sunday. There will
be no music on the Sunday this year.
- Some of the anticipated varietys of music include jazz, folk rock, blues
n roots, gospel singers, keyboardists and more. All the musicians have generously
donated their time and labour for free to raise money for East Timor.
- Why East Timor? The previous farm owner was a commando in Timor in WWII.
Legend has it, he and his comrades, with the assistance of the Timorese
people held back a 10,000 strong garrison of Japanese from marching down
onto Australia. In return for their kindness he and his mates had 300 Timorese
to visit Australia, where they camped on his property, several times.. Timor
needs all the help it can get – it is the poorest nation in Asia.
We expect to raise significant funds for East Timor through this event.
Give us a fair go, it's all we ask.
